Did the line art at ASG last week. Now I'm figuring out how I can turn it into a painting. May undergo revisions.

11:37 pm - Missed animation ride today. Critical Mass tomorrow.
|
Ahh! I missed out on so much today! I really want to go to Critical Mass tomorrow, so I decided to work super late tonight to catch up with my workload. But ay yai! Today at 7pm there was an awesome animation ride. Three different people invited me to it, and I was like, "No, I'm Litsa and I'm stupid and like to work all the time even though who knows if I'll ever get the opportunity to go on an animation bike ride again." That's right. A large group rode around the city and projected animations on buildings and walls an stuff. How amazingly awesomely awesome is that?! This is all in preparation for the animation festival tomorrow. And there is totally an after party going on right now. Ugh.
Oh remorse.
Okay, well I missed out. Spilled milk. So now I'm considering staying up and working even later just to be suuuuper sure I don't miss tomorrow's ride. Ya, at this point that makes a lot of sense. And I'm pretty sure I'd have insomnia tonight anyway.
But on the other hand, my brain is totally fried.
Bleh.
Well, yes. Tomorrow = Critical Mass. Rendezvous at the UT West Mall at 5pm. I think a bunch o' peeps are going to that Gadjo Disko party at Rhizome Collective afterward. That's at 10pm.

3:58 am - Gettin' crafty
|
This weekend I got a bit crafty. I was wanting a messenger bag with the secondary strap that prevents your bag from falling forward when you ride. However, those bags are expensive! And fancy! Fancy! ahh! Savers was the solution. Man, belts and purses are actually worthwhile there. Their clothes are all overpriced, but almost all belts are $0.99 each, and half off that if their tag color is right. Score! So yeah, I had fun. Next I want to make hoods. I think it would be cool to have a collection of hoods in an assortment of patterns and colors that will make people wonder what the heck kind of jacket that thing came off of. I would also like to make straps that cover your shoelaces. Hmm....
| I found this awesome purse at Savers. I took apart a big ol' belt and used its components to make the main strap. Then I used the strap that actually came with the purse as the secondary one that goes around my torso. | This is the purse Lisa brought back to me from Guatemala. The strap is extra long, so I was already pulling the extra bit at the end around and tying it to the front. However, I added D-rings so now it's a bit more sophisticated, I guess.

 | | | | I only needed one belt for that purse I got, but there were so many options, and they were all so cheap, that I ended up buying 8! That just means I need to make more purses in the future. Yay! Oh, I cut up a clothes hanger and made little hooks and strung all my belts on a clothesline that goes across my room. So now I have easy access to belts organized by level of girliness. | |

10:45 pm - Bike Trailer
|
Aaron got me a bike trailer and "Ear Pops" for Christmas! Awesome! Today I took 8 loads of laundry to the coin wash in only one trip. Oh man life is good.

( second picture )
Also, I've begun making necklaces from gemstones. I've been reading the meanings -- when you make a necklace for someone, it's kind of like stringing together a prayer of well-wishes.
Also, Aaron begins his new job as a solar technician tomorrow!!! Wow! So great.

12:14 pm - Rock out
|
Last night I saw Weird Weeds and Cryptacize at Okay Mountain.
Cryptacize is great! Chris Cohen (that's the drummer's name, right?) has this teeny-tiny kit. His base drum is a little toy drum that rests on top of a cardboard box because otherwise it would be too low to the ground for the foot petal mallet thing. And he plays a tiny triangle and a tiny snare drum -- like the size of a tambourine. The whole sound of the band is best described as teeny-tiny. Both the girl and guy that sing have high voices, and the songs are quaint, picturesque little stories.
And Weird Weeds sounded good too. It's better when Sandy's singing, but the sound was actually really good in the OK MT gallery. This was the first time I could actually understand what Nick was singing 'cause the sound is really crisp in there (Emo's is muddy, I guess). I was never able to hear Nick's drumming so well, so last night I really appreciated his talent and creativity.
Since I was in the neighborhood, I also checked out the band at Scoot Inn. It was either Many Birthdays or Fiction -- can't tell 'cause I hadn't previously seen either and I didn't ask. They were okay -- whichever band I saw had a bazillion band members (trumpet, trombone, two keyboards, two percussionists, two singers...) -- but enjoyed Weird Weeds and Cryptacize more.
My ride home was musical. I sang to myself the whole way back (mainly "Jingle Bells" ha!), and took my time getting home.
Today I have to work a full day. Tomorrow too. Makers Fair is up in the air for me -- hafta see how much work I get done. But since I have to work on the weekend, I get Tuesday off. That means I can stay up late Monday night. Karaoke at Beerland, anyone?
